Who will you vote for?

The National Television Awards have released their 2023 shortlist with Beyond Paradise, Call the Midwife and Ted Lasso all making the cut.

The Death in Paradise spin-off has been nominated in the New Drama in a category that is going to be hard to call, alongside police drama Blue Lights, prequel series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, and the Netflix smash hit, Wednesday.

The third and final series of Happy Valley has scooped up a host of praise, as it makes the Returning Drama category, with Stranger Things 4, Call the Midwife and Vera.

While titular stars Sarah Lancashire and James Norton secured Drama Performance nominations, and face Vera’s Brenda Blethyn, Call the Midwife’s Judy Parfitt and Queen Charlotte’s India Amarteifio.

Elsewhere, the late Deborah James has been honoured in Authored Documentary for her honest reflection on living with stage four bowel cancer before her death, in Deborah James: Bowelbabe in Her Own Words.

The category also features the moving and candid specials, Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now, Matt Willis: Fighting Addiction and Rob Burrow: Living with MND.

Equally, the beloved Paul O’Grady has received a posthumous nomination for the final series of For the Love of Dogs in the Factual category, and competes with Clarkson’s Farm, Stacey Solomon’s Sort Your Life Out and The Martin Lewis Money Show.

Meanwhile, The Traitors competes against Love Island, Race Across the World and SAS: Who Dares Wins in the Reality Competition category.
